2014 calendars featuring the artwork of Ozark resident Lyman Herston (1897-1973) are now available at the Christian County Library in Ozark. Herston, a largely self-taught artist, lived in Garrison Hollow and painted primarily local landscapes, many of which are still recognizable. Landcapes were not his only genre, and the calendar features two still lifes and a nautical themed painting, all of them done in beautiful watercolors. An electrician by trade, Herston said he painted for his own "amazement" and his art was not recognized during his lifetime like that of his cousin Howard Garrison. Calendars are $10 ($11.75 if mailed) and may also be purchased by calling 417 581-4860 or 417 581-7154.
